Dirty Dog Walkers!!!
« on: December 11, 2021, 12:33 »
I have just heard this horrid story.    about 3 miles from me there is a carpark at the bottom of the South Downs.  The farmers agreed to cut the hay on the large bottom meadow.   They cut and baled it and now the bales all just laying around because there is so much dog poo in them they cannot be used and eventually be incinerated - but I cannot see the farmers spending more of their time doing this.   I guess it will be down to the village community to arrive at a solution.   It is generally agreed that the worst offender are the so called "professional dog walkers"    who can arrive with as many as 12 dogs.   They cannot be watching and controlling what the dogs are doing.
Aren't some people disgusting.  !!    Mrs Bouquet

I couldn't agree more with you Mrs B there are many dog walkers walk the field behind our house and never carry poo bags so where does the dog poo end up on the field its a public field path leading from the village centre to the top of the village then links up with another field path that takes you back to the village

and although used by many people that enjoy a daily walk some with children some dog walkers just let there dogs foul the path not picking up there dog poo is not only a health hazard that is socially unacceptable you are legally bound to pick up your dogs poo if your dog fouls a public path etc

and some people have been found guilty here of letting there dogs foul footpaths and been fined but that hasn't seem to stop people letting there dogs foul the footpaths and of cause it puts a bad light on the ones that do take the trouble to pick up there dogs poo its all very well some of these nannies spouting of about protecting the environment climate change what have you but I think to clean up your dog poo would be a step in the rite direction to help the environment

Hello you're right about it being disgusting  I have a hedge to cut on a public footpath theres at least 10 bags of dog muck hanging in it,i had to remind a certain individual in my village that fetching bags of dog dirt from his house to put in a bin next to a public poot path is an offence and he needs a waste transfer licence, which I have to empty the bins also had to have a hazardous waste course    jezza

A dig walker near us was a culprit until one of our neighbours took to following her and handing her a poo bag everytime it was needed.  It took the best part of a week for her to get the message but it worked

Never mind, as long as the farmers get their compensation.

Cheers,  Tony.

I think compensation should be last thing to be thinking about Tony to me fouling paths and field paths its a serious matter and one that brings health and welfare into question

we had many dogs over the years and always picked up our dog poo my farmer friend has put notices up asking people to pick there dog poo up it fell on deaf ears  >:(

so what's needed well a few fines handed out to those offenders wouldn't go a miss at £50 quid a time they would soon get the message wishful  thinking me thinks  :(

We used to live in a corner property and had quite a large front lawn, a lady a couple of doors down used to let her dog out, he/she trotted down, did the business on our lawn and then went back home.  I got so fed up that I shovelled it up, dropped it on her front door step.  Again, took a few days but the message got through finally.

Compensation will not be involved.  The Farmer whose farm is very close was doing it along with many volunteers who wanted to turn it into a pretty meadow.   Mrs B

I must admit compensation is really not the answer as you said Mrs B the farmer and willing volunteers worked to turn the meadow into a place to walk and enjoy

its the case I'm afraid where so few spoil it for others as I said in my other comments we have the same problem here a lady came by our house the other day and she was furious because he little girl had stepped in some dog poo walking across the field path and it was on her shoes and socks and the little girl was crying because she had walked in it I felt really sorry for her

I told the lady to report it to the parish council who monitor the footpaths as she was very discussed in the mess of dog poo on the field path hopefully she reported it although I haven't seen here walking with the little girl since then its a sad state of affairs when it ultimately stops people from walking field footpaths because of dog poo and people are just not bothering to pick up there dogs poo

and lets face it it took a long time to get some of these field footpaths open for the public to enjoy walking what's the answer to make dog walkers pick up the poo I ask myself
