never rotavate a plot or any ground with couch in .all this will do is chop it up and create even more . a pice of couch half inch long with a ring segment will regrow , as the heart of the weed is in the ring segment where the leaves and more roots grow from,
still alive /............

Well, we've spent three hours today shifting a load of manure which we've put in the frame thingy at the bottom of the allotment. Julia was really keen to throw all the wicken roots into this heap, because she says it will get really hot and kill them.  Our council will strim the patch for us this weekend - they'd forgotten all about us!  Then Julia plans to put Round Up over that top end and then after a week or so, cover it with the raw manure, which will include my chucked out wicken roots, and leave it all to fester for the winter.  I DON'T BELIEVE IT  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Not after all the advice Ive had from the experienced growers on this site. AAAAAAAAGH.
Still glowing, still growing, still going strong!

Have reached a compromise. The heap will be left to fester all winter, hopefully kill off the roots. Our second load will go on the lottie. Will report back in the spring!  Jean
