HI Everyone
Quick Question. Have a problem with the onions this year. Not sure what's causing it. Hoping someone will have an idea.

Hi Graham,

Mine did this a few years back:

Turned out they had downy mildew, I now grow Santero F1 as they are supposed to be resistant to it.

Can I ask a daft question?

Regards Onions, when are they ready to harvest? I presume a clue would be when they look like onions....

Have some over winter onion sets. What should I look for as prime harvest time.

Thanks

The bulbs will indeed look like onions and the foliage will flop over and start turning brown. Lift them and let them dry out in the sunshine to form skins ready for storage.
