Crimson crush in this foul weather
« on: May 22, 2021, 17:20 »
I have three sets of non-blighters, crimson crush, and the plum and cocktail varieties. I started them off in the attic with a silver paper screen behind them. They were doing fine. Then I started hardening them off outside. Some of the leaves shrivelled up a bit and had a couple of white patches, looking a bit poorly (I may have left them out a bit too long but the sun has never been very bright). This was about five days ago and they are still looking peaky.

So has anybody else dared to put their (almost) blight-free tomatoes out in the garden in these blblical weather conditions we are suffering (this constant wind and seemingly non-stop rain)?

Got crimson crush and blush ready to go out last friday but i decided 50mph winds were OTT.
Wind and rain tomorrow so i have decided to put them out Monday.
Doubled over on their shelf indoors is more comfortable for them than plenty of space outside !

Have lit the woodburner i spring cleaned a fortnight ago thinking it would not be needed till November !

Thanks for your reply.
Just worried about them looking a bit poorly with some of the leaves wizened and so-forth (and palish green colour compared with the ones I saw in the gardening centre yesterday) and thought they might be better off in the great outdoors.
