Hi All

I’ve sown some pea seeds using a bag of new compost, they’ve been on the window sill for a week and today I’ve noticed 100s of tiny eggs. Any idea who’s the culprit?

What do I do with the peas and what do I do with the compost

They are only on the surface and they are much smaller than fertiliser pellets

What are yellow balls in soil? Most of the time, they are fertilizer balls, although they might be eggs.
Eggs are slimy, soft, and often all gathered in one place.
If they’re eggs, what might they belong to? Slugs or snails, worms, ants, ladybugs are the most likely culprit.

Sorry but that looks like snail eggs. If they pop when you squish them they are mollusc eggs. If they are hard and unyielding they are more likely to be slow release fertiliser pellets. I’ve just discovered a load in my hosta pot at home, had to remove all soil, replace with new , add slug pellets and re pot ( it needed it anyway as it was grossly pot bound).

If you used peat free or peat reduced compost then I would say they are fungus feeding on the wood content of the compost and totally harmless to your plants as they only feed on decaying matter.
