Laurus Nobilis - best Aldi buy yet!
« on: February 09, 2021, 16:26 »
We have been growing herbs on our patio for the past year and a half since we moved here. The one thing we did not have was a bay. Aldi are selling nice looking bay plants in clay pots for just under a fiver. On inspection, they are actually a pot of good-sized rooted cuttings about a foot tall and well over a dozen in each 15cm pot. They are easy to separate and pot on into 2l (16cm) plastic pots. We will grow a lot on and plant as a hedge in our new (to us) garden as well as training a few into standards and pyramids.

I will try and post some pictures as we split them.

The pot is good too. They need drainage holes bored in the bottom (use a tile bit SLOWLY) as they are intended as live kitchen plants and as such are rated zero for VAT.
