Oh what a shame, he sounded such a lovely man, full of strength & character. I know he was a hundred but even so  :(

That has put such a dampner on my day, I sort of expected it, but didn't want to hear it.  God bless him and his family.   He was an inspiration to so many.  Rest in Peace and know that we all love you and respect you for what you did.  What's Piers going to say in the morning?

If only there were more people like him and less whingers and moaners, the world would be a better place.

His memory will be written in history.

Blackool is paying tribute tonight.
The tower is in NHS Blue and streaming his name in the middle.

Sad News.    A man of "True Grit".    Not so many like that.   What a hero.    Thoughts to his family.  Mrs Bouquet

It's very, very rare I shed a tear when someone famous dies but when I heard the news yesterday out came the Kleenex. He's left us such a great legacy that all of us should take to our hearts and learn from it.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

He was a lovely old boy, full of the spirit that made his generation so important.

I just hope that some of the failures in our current society might learn from what he did - they need some sort of direction.

I salute you Sir!
