going to try a new squash variety next season called Mashed Potato the seed catalogue says its a new variety if this is true I can't ask anyone if they have grew it and how they rate it?

Has anyone also ordered the save variety ? well we need to give it a go

It is an Acorn squash, most years I grow Thelma Sanders (also an Acorn squash) which has also always been described as a potato squash (It's my Avatar )
They're very reliable, fairly small fruited, and the plants don't grow as rampantly as some varieties do.

They really are reliable croppers, even in a less than perfect summer

thanks Mum good picture its given me some idea what they mite turn out like being the first season we intend to have a go at growing them just a couple of things what do they taste like I know a squash  and i guess there much the same as the other squashes very versatile

Cooked until soft and mashed with some butter, S&P, they are quite similar to potatoes IMO, just not as floury.
More like proper mash than mashed swede is, if you know what I mean 
Though I prefer them cut in half and stuffed with something tasty, then roasted YUM!
