Nasty looking leaves on my beans
« on: June 16, 2020, 15:13 »
My rows of beans are just beginning to take off now.
Amongst the varieties I am growing are Cobra from the same packet of seed I used last year.
I have planted them out in 2 lots as some of the first lot didn't germinate.
The second lot all look really healthy, but this is what the leaves on the first plants to be sown look like.
It looks horribly like a mosaic virus of some kind.   Shall I pull the affected plants up and start again?

Picture added.   The healthy leaf behind is one of the second sowings.

Squinting like mad I can see the leaf joint looks damaged, so the leaf is dying off.

There have been some windy (and cold) conditions lately which could easily be responsible - unless there are lots of other manky leaves on these older plants I wouldn't be unduly worried at this stage.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Thanks JayG.  I have given them and all my other beans a comfrey tea foliar feed yesterday.  I don't know if it is my imagination but they all look a bit perkier this afternoon and now seem to be taking off up the poles.

Mine have all been knocked back in a similar fashion. Hoping that its nothing more than the switch between cold, wind and blistering heat. Fed them and we'll see what happens
