Planting on new crop after winter garlic
« on: April 19, 2020, 09:21 »
I have devoted a lot of space to garlic this year and so far it’s looking good. I hope to harvest in June. What is a good follow on crop? I’m thinking maybe brassicas. If so, how should I prepare the soil? And is it good to leave a period of maybe a couple of weeks before putting in a new crop, maybe to let the soil rest a bit? Thank you.

I am going to put some beans where my garlic is at the moment. I won't be putting any more brassicas in until the autumn around the start of september they will then be ready for around Christmas and into the early part of the new year.

Winter jewel? Any other options? Thinking of small cabbages

I set out Dwarf French Bean (grown in tray) onto my plot in very late July and got a successful crop.

I’ve always planted garlic in rows 12” apart, and then sown lettuce in between the rows from April onwards.

This is for all the ideas everyone. There’s not enough space for lettuce in between rows. I think I’ll do cauliflowers and PSB as planned.
