The soil in my parsnip bed is lovely and warm after the last few days sunshine. Do I sow my seeds now knowing that there is a cold spell to come or wait until the cold spell is over?
It is a dilemma for all gardens to sow or hold off? I think that it is better to wait for a period when you know that you are past the worst of the late winter and early spring has to offer and then sow with some certainty that the conditions are going to remain favourable for germination. On the other hand many will say sow and early row... if the come through all good if they don't you have that sowing a month later to depend on. I have one row already sown but I think it is almost certain that the conditions we get down here are two or even three weeks in front of most or the UK and you being in the Peak district will be well behind.
edit I should add that even with the warmer conditions we get they still take an age to germinate.
