Pea - Champion of England
« on: April 03, 2020, 13:46 »
Hi All,

Mods - If this isn't in the right place please do move it; I wasn't sure where to put it.

I'm looking for some pea seed - champion of england. I don't need many, just 10 or 15 and would happily pay a few quid for them. If anyone is able to sell me any, I would be so grateful!

Thank you!

Please note that buying and selling are against forum rules, you can send money for any postage involved, though.

Real seed company is still open and they are selling them for £3.15 + postage.

The trouble with Realseeds is their £8 minimum order policy and that's before adding the p&p  :(

Unfortunately all the seed shops aren't accepting orders at the moment - I can't seem to find anywhere to get hold of any. And noted about the payment - happy to compensate fairly for postage only!

If you look up the Real seeds company (who were shipping yesterday), I have the entry above which are similar if you want some it's no hassle. Telephone peas.

Blurb.

Quote
Telephone Pea (very tall)

A well known and much loved tall pea - six foot plus - that we recommend as an early-maincrop pea. It hasn't really changed from the description of 'Carter's Telephone Pea' in Vilmorin's famous book of 1885 on vegetable gardening.

It has heavy yields of large pods with sweet, non-starchy peas inside. We find that the pods always swell up a bit before the peas fill out, so don't be fooled into picking too early! We find it's best to check a couple of pods first before picking lots - not too much of a hardship!

Wrinkled seed, stays sweet longer in pods - but don't sow in cold wet conditions.

Medium tall vine, use as maincrop.

I kept checking all yesterday and each time I tried to order I got the ‘we’re not accepting orders message’, but I might have just missed their window!
Having said that I would be extremely grateful if you could send me a few, and I’ll happily pay for postage!

It'll be a few days before we get to a post office as the nearest is some distance away, But send me your address. I'll message you when they are posted.
