Try looking with double 'o'. It's done to increase flowering/fruiting, haven't done with me fruit trees, but works a treat for climbing roses, hence the arch is great, you get the most flowers on them if the branches are bent.

A lot of greengage and plum naturally hang that way and they are loaded, so probably worth a go.
