This years tommys have been ok, pretty decent crop but not the best tasting etc.
So being the person I am
I have decided to do some reaserch on growing tommys for productivity and taste etc and take a more (OCD) scientific approach next year!
I have come across an interesting paper that researched water rate and growth/ productivity, they found using a drip sytem @2ltr per hour had better growth and producitivty than at a rate of 4ltr and 8 ltr per hour.
I have also been altering the greenhouses to improve the temperature range so it is more consitant and cooler than before using shading and now fitterd solar extractor fans and over the last week max temp reached 27c
So everything is now set up, my irrigation drips @ 2ltr per hour, the temps should be lower than the 45c+ they were hitting in summer
But then I thought hang on, what about feeding them, we know too much water/ feed is bad as is too little so I have contacted a known company regarding the amount of feed that gives best results, I was thinking of building a drip sytem using a 2ltr bottle and have drips at the same rate as the irrigation however the answer I got back was "there is no recommended amount of feed to give as long as it equally applied between plants"
So does that mean I can give 100 ltrs? (I kow I am being a plank)
Has anyone on here actually found a measured amount per plant work best? say 1 ltr/ 2ltr etc? (appreaciate other factors come into it)
