My week's smug moment; what's yours?
« on: April 27, 2019, 16:08 »
I refuse to pay garden centre prices for stuff so drove out to a farming supplier's outlet yesterday and bought a 20kg sack of lawn weed, feed and moss-killer for less than £20. Got up this morning, saw the weather forecast for heavy showers and spread half of it on the large front lawn. Just about cleaned off the spreader and the heavens opened. I don't often get things so right but that to me was perfect timing. What made the timing even better was that the lawn was starting to go brown due to lack of rain in the last month or so.
Anyone else feeling smug?

Cleared out the conservatory guttering (it took a power washer).  Finished just as the heavens opened.

Cheers,  Tony.

9.5kg of Sweet and Sour Rhubarb & Chilli Chutney made by midday, then down to allotment to assess damage from "Hannah". (this bit, not smug!)

We have a farming supplier near us and they are such great value not only for gardening stuff but also for veg and fruit. Don't consider it as being smug, but yesterday there was a cold wind blowing around my g-house and so much stuff in there is doing really well that I closed the louvre vent, partially zipped-up the cover for the plants that are inside my mini g-house, shut the door and thought the plants on the staging are just going to have to lump it! Today I saw the windows partially open so had a look inside to check all was well. Wow, it was like the tropics in there and I thought oh heck, but rolling up the mini g-house cover and looking at the plants on the staging they all seem to have had a growth spurt overnight!   :)
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
