Cucumelon

This is a cucumber the size of a grape, with a taste of cucumber and lime. My neighbour has given me 2 plants which are going into the polytunnel.

They can be very prolific, even when it looks like they are not doing all that well to start with

I've tried both in the polytunnel and outside and I found the ones outside to be a lot more productive.

Grew them once. Very prolific. I agree with Aidy about the taste. I wouldn't grow them again.

Funny that, both myself and the connoisseur sprog both liked them. Especially tasty in a salad.

They are crisp textured like Crystal Apple cukes and do have a citrus tang to them.

I liked them, but found they took up too much room in the greenhouse.  Keeping them cut back to their supports helps and seems to make them more prolific as well. Left to their own devices, they just make endless leaves.

The flowers are tiny and easy to miss, so just when you think they are never going to do anything, you find fruits  :)

I tried them once, but was very unimpressed with the taste, although, having said that, taste is very subjective, and some people may like them.
