Being a cold but bright day after a hard frost It seemed a great day to make some sowing compost to try The frosts have broken down the top soil into a very fine crumb even the lumps of clay were dust like so this was all sived together with a small amount of mult purpose and some perlite then put into an old metal  bucket and heated on the wood burner, for an hour or so Added water to stop it drying out and then sacked it up .hope it works still kept me warm for  a few hours  Any one else making  seed compost does it work ?

I use a third of either multipurpose or sieved hm compost, with a third of coir and a third of vermiculite or perlite. I don't sterilise it but rarely get any weed seedlings or problems

Works well: yours sounds similar to mine but cooked
