you can get maran bantams - just saw some hatching eggs for sale on ebay. I'm really sad and like looking through them occaionally to see pictures and random breeds!

The Maran Bantams sound like a nice idea - thanks for spotting those. I did think of getting ex battery hens but thought they may be quite a challenge as I have not kept chickens before.

I have a jack russell that behaves himself impeccably with my free range chooks and rabbits.  He showed interest initially but has learnt they are off limits.  I have always discouraged him from chasing any birds as we live near a river, I hate dogs chasing ducks etc, this may have helped.
The only time I wouldn't trust him is if a friends dog shows interest he seems to take on the "mob mentality". :roll:
