Apparently wild parsnip can cause burns to the skin just like a sunburn so be careful with it!
Snappy

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch.

I could give up chocolate but I'm not a quitter.

have you tried nibbling a bit?Taste may give it away but don`t swallow if you don`t recognise the taste. If it`s parsnip wild or not it can irritate and cause blistered skin when exposed to the sun.

I would suggest ferral cultivated parsnip, rather than a wild variety.

They can be found growing all along the route I walk home from the plot, right up to and including in my front garden.

My daughter's guinea pigs (R.I.P.) used to love the leaves, which grow smaller and tastier on self set, un-thinnned plants, than those on cultivated parsnips, which they would refuse to eat.
