Hmm yes I'd missed that.... I was out in my dressing gown in the frost, rescuing them at 7am this morning....I'd forgotten to fleece them over, but they are looking ok in doors now.  We'll see.

We had half inch of ice on the water butts this morning.

After a dry and pleasant week, the weather looks to deteriorate next weekend and get much colder with a blast of Arctic air affecting all of the UK into the following week. Expect daytime temperatures in single figures, overnight air frosts and maybe snow showers.

Saw frost-blackened early potato foliage on our allotments today. Tonight will produce a few more, I'm sure.

A fine few days, this week but change is on the way............

By the weekend Arctic air could be spilling south bringing increasingly wintry showers. Snow is possible perhaps even at lower levels in the north and east, reminding us of some of the late April snowfalls of the past such as those that occurred around the same time in 1981, 1950 and 1908. A chilling thought, but at present certainly not out of the question.
