My mum watched a show last night on staying young and it mentioned a purple sweet potato eaten by the truck load by locals in Okinawa Japan....She's spent an hour trying to find them already and hasn't managed to!
They're apparently purple INSIDE and creamy whit on the OUTSIDE.
If anyone here can help, that'd be amazing because she's desperate for them!

Waitrose may be the only stockist currently, but no doubt they are sold out already. With all the publicity being given to these sweet potatoes I feel sure more will be appearing on the shelves soon!

The only other option is Oriental greengrocers, who do sometime have these available

I also watched the programme, it did say that eating any purple fruit or veg would be just as good for you, e.g. aubergine, Blackcurrants etc. Just in case you can't find any of the purple sweet potatoes.

It is indeed sad - but I don't think wine counts as a fruit or a vegetable
