Now I bet you never expected to see that heading but it is well deserved.
My 'yard' is the 1.5 acre remnant of my agricultural holding which I retained after giving up livestock. The land is surrounded by woodland with many public footpaths which are sadly underused, but we do have bikes and quad bikes and it was quad bikes that came upon a sort of style thingy next to my fence. Unfortunately this prevented them getting through so they happily knocked my stock fence down and drove round - twice. I reported this to the Council, mainly because I thought they should know what had happened rather than expecting them to be able to do anything. Anyway a very nice chap came to see me and took a lot of interest in what I was doing. He is clean to plug the gap and said that they had been planting hawthorn hedges and thought that they may have some spare bare-root saplings.
This morning a very nice chap brought three plastic bags which must have at least 50 saplings in each. I was enormously grateful. Thank you Rotherham.
