Hi all
Why are my banana shallots which i have dried off for storage starting to sprout?
I store them in an unheated greenhouse , other years i have no problems.
Could it be this warm weather we are having, we have not had a frost yet.
Would storing them in the dark help?.

Some of my onions have started to sprout as well.  Its the mild weather, so if you have somewhere cooler they could go, that might help.

Keep checking them though.  Once they start going, it is difficult to stop them

i think its the temperature, i have onions sprouting, i even still have a strawberry on one of the plants, crazy

And keeping in thei light is better than somewhere dark.

I can feel a batch of onion marmalade coming on as my stored onions are madly sprouting. You could try something similar with shallots, or perhaps dry them in rings to keep for a salad topping.
