We had a cracking thunderstorm last night, actually got up to watch it for a while as it was too noisy for sleep  Quite a bit of rainfall, as well, so only needed to water in the greenhouses today.

We seemed to have missed most of the rain here as well. Our area is always quite dry but this year is exceptional. Just a few mm of rain so far this month. The soil is like concrete, I had to dig with a mattock.
I am watering the essential plants on the allotment twice a week, doing this since July, lots of watering cans, the upside is that I have very strong arm muscles now ;-).

I heard today that some farmers have trouble getting their fields ploughed as the plough is just bouncing off the ground as it is baked hard.
