I've never had any success with carrots. On one occasion I put it down to stony poor soil as they were tiny and twisted so I put them into the compost. Then I planted into compost to avoid the poor quality soil prolem and they all came out forked and spilt as I hadn't watered them frequently enough. Then there was other (at least two) occasions where they didn't appear at all, probably rubbish germination.
As for the slugs...

But...inspired by Goosegirl's success and perseverence and using the advice to stagger the sowings, here's to next year where I will be posting my photos of an excellent carrot crop (maybe...)!
