My step mum has a small step over pear tree, recently attacked by a badger so not in the best of health anyway, all the leaves are dropping off with some nasty looking disease. Ive taken the rest of the leaves of it to burn but we could do with finding out what it is, anyone have a idea?

Started to get this on my pear about three or four years ago, I have lots of conifers in neighbouring gardens. Although it looks disgusting I have been removing as many infected leaves as possible and it seems not to have overly affected the fruit so far.

There are quite a few conifers near my step mums, wonder if there's a connection..

Unless the conifers are junipers, there's unlikely to be a connection.  Rust is pretty host-specific.
