A neighbour - who is not online - asked me to see if I could find a remedy for ants nests in his lawn. When he mows, he says, their presence leaves bald patches. Anybody got any ideas?

Has your neighbour eliminated other causes for the patches? The ants may have moved in once the grass was dead, perhaps because of absence of roots, rather than being the cause?

I would imagine it might be quite dry for ants to establish nests in the lawn, weed killing, aerating, feeding & reseeding might be the way to go with perhaps good compost brushed in over the top to help with water retention. Could I suppose dig out the affected areas & treat as before but just in that area.
