Swedes
« on: June 21, 2015, 15:08 »
I have just failed (again)with my second sowing of swede's.  I have started them off in trays in the greenhouse. A week or so ago they were doing ok...small, yes but they looked green and healthy. Been into the greenhouse today and they have all shrivelled and died.  Did I neglect them for too long, did they dry out? Is it too warm in the greenhouse? Once they came up, should I have placed them outside?

They don't need the warmth of a greenhouse, sounds as if they frazzled. It can get very hot inside.

More than likely the heat. I sowed direct in the bed about a week ago and they're already germinated and growing well. Probably worth giving that a go.
