Artichoke Plants
« on: May 12, 2015, 01:53 »
I have one set of plants in my home garden ,growing well with the occassional Tomato feed  & another set on my allotment that I have fed with Growmore granules but are still only half the size of plants at home.
What is the  best feed to give them to make them grow taller & bear fruit please ? How often ?
Thanks

Globe or Jerusalem artichokes?

My globe artichokes get fed only when/if I remember, then it's just whatever feed I have around - BFB or Growmore, perhaps once a year - if they're lucky ::)

I would suggest the difference between the home v allotment is in the soil soil or microclimate. Is the plot more open/windy?

different question on artichokes

can you grow Jerusalem artichoke in the same place each year as I've discovered that where I grew it last year ( my first time ) there are loads of shoots coming up and I was convinced I got it all out

might be easier to keep it in one part of the plot

Yes you can which is lucky, as you've found out, they're difficult to remove! ::)
