Are loads of gooseberry varieties including Guido, Gunner, Hedgehog, Freedom, faithfull, Berry's Green Giant, Australia and many others I have never heard of.
Has anyone grown any of these ?  They sound very nice although I would guess they need treating to stop mildew.

If you are worried about mildew why not choose a resistant variety like Invicta :)

I am not that worried about mildew (possibly inexperience speaking here but I hope sodium bicarbonate will protect it).

Also Invicta has not got the best taste !  And also for me one of the joys of gardening is growing unusual varieties like eg fallgold raspberries or tayberries.
