[Ema]

I found a trailing courgette/squash plant growing in amongst my main crop spuds. Its nothing I’ve planted and that part of the plot has never had squashes or courgettes on it before. I can only think the mice/rats left the seed there.

Low and behold the plant had its first fruit last week…






Is it a known variety or some weird cross?

Very bright yellow in colour, not like the round yellow courgettes. One end is a little green and streaky with a pattypan green coloured nubbin where the flour was.

It looks like an unripe squash to me. It could be Delicata or a banana squash. Definitely edible!  It could be a veg spagetti

I should say I have already eaten this guy raw in a salas - my partner prepared it so I never saw what the inside looked like. It was like a courgette or summer squash had very little flavour

The Delicata has very little flavour so does need help    They do absorb flavours readily though which is a good thing as courgettes and squashes are so easy to grow and so prolific and so form the basis for many cheap meals.
