Rain water diverter with narrower diameter
« on: July 08, 2014, 13:57 »
Hi,

I have a small 100L water butt that I want to connect to the existing guttering and downpipe that is connected to my shed.  The shed however has narrower guttering and drainpipe than the rain water diverter than I have for my water butt, so I am not sure on how to connect?

I've tried looking for a diverter kit with a smaller diameter but not found anything but the normal 65-68mm which I already have.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hannah :)

Try Halls Rainsaver online.  In their shop they have small diameter downpipe etc.  or you could try piping for toilets (I think) that also is smaller.

Just run the shed guttering down pipe into the butt and fit an overflow pipe to the top of the butt?

Try The Greenhouse People - often have small fittings for greenhouse to waterbutt stuff, but would work with other downpipes, I'm sure.

A diverter is normally only used when the overflow is going to a soakaway or drain so with sheds as above is the way to go.

Downpipe into the butt and i rig an overflow pipe into a second lower butt to catch the excess!

Thanks, why did I not think of the simpliest of solutions!

Will be looking for a second water butt as I ended up leaving my old one at the old house...
