Hi,
I planted some swedes just over a month ago and protected them with bottle cloches. They've since outgrown them, and this morning I removed them but the swedes have all just flopped over and the leaves are lying on the soil.
I've never grown them before and I know it's stupid question, but is this normal? Should I be supporting them with something to keep the leaves off the ground? Will they be alright?

I think they just grew soft in the bottle, they didn't really need protection.

Just leave them to grow now, remove the bottom leaves if they start to go yellow, or get badly slug munched.

I don't have to net my swedes but don't know if you have a pigeon problem and may need to.

Thanks Mum Yes, we do have a bit of a pigeon problem (or at least one single, hungry pigeon!) and there is whitefly everywhere!
