Thanks for the heads up.
Never thought about growing basil in with my tomatoes in the greenhouse.
I always plant basil around my toms & include some Tagettes to keep the white fly off. Seems to work a treat. Which reminds me I've forgotten to sow them.
When I grew toms, I planted basil by them in the GH - don't think it made any difference, but tagetes in the GH - never had whitelfy in there except for one year when my own seed that I collected didn't grow, so I didn't bother buying any plants and guess what - whitefly. Just come in from planting mine in the GH bed now.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I can't remember where I saw it mentioned, but it was on these pages , so went on youtube  , really  interesting. Started watching the herb episode but skipped to carrots , parsnips etc. Some glimpses of Monty's kitchen, his family and the black Lab which I think preceded Nigel. Will go back later and watch the other episodes.  What do you do with THAT amount of pumpkins?  Immense amount of hard work to achieve a garden like that , but when you can eat the fruits of your labours, it is worth the effort. Can either make you feel inadequate OR it inspires you, the latter in this case.
we also rescue rabbits and guinea pigs, grow own veg

There are plenty of ways to download youtube videos.

It's worth a watch, but we don't all have acres of ground to produce composts  :nowink: and try growing like that here and you'll go very hungry  ::)

Great televison and storytelling, nicely filmed and  perfectly balanced to entrance. Not seen the series before. Enjoyed it.
Priveleged archetypal middle class Englishness in buckets. I suppose away from the pest ghettos of allotment sites, netting isn't needed. :D
No harm done though. I like dear old Monty, feel for his tragedies, and it's nice to see a family live their idyll. I take to his style more than Geoff Hamilton's and certainly prefer him to the now F1 hybrid Jamie's picture painting of grown food to table.
Wouldn't have been enough cutting edge for my life in general though. Far too civilised.

If we didn't have two kids, it sounds perfect! There's no such thing as a lie in bed anymore  :(
