Flowers for winter hanging baskets
« on: June 22, 2014, 10:30 »
I'd like to try growing my own winter bedding plants from seed this year. I've got plastic hanging baskets with holes to plant flowers through the sides.

Which flowers would be good for this? I was thinking of winter pansies but would these work in the sides?

I've got lobelia round the side holes for my summer baskets, & petunia, box and ivy in the main bit and am really pleased with the effect.

winter pansies, with a few small variegated Ivy plants around the sides, look good - even if the pansies are taking a breather before the next lot of flowers appear :)

Thanks. You can't beat pansies; they've got such cheerful faces!
