My strawberries last year were fantastic.  I had a good crop from plants planted in the Spring.  This year they have gone crazy producing three times as many.  BUT some of them have brown marks on them.  Not rot, just a mid brown mark that marrs them.  I noticed that some have cuckoo spit on them, is this related?

Has anyone noticed the amount of slugs about? cor blimy.  As fast as I am cutting them in half, two more appear. 

Rust - last year and this year my garlic has been infested with rust.  I planted them in a totally different place this year.  I crop rotate.  I do everything I should to the soil.  So what is happening?  And how can I treat it organically?  Glad of any help.

There is something called black seed disease, which is caused by the same fungal spores that cause leaf spot in strawberries.  The treatment would be a fungicide spray, but whether you want to spray fruit you will be eating soon is another matter   Most of what is available to the home gardener does do mildew, rust and black spot, so it may help stop it spreading.

The garlic rust is also a fungal spore which is almost impossible to stop in a wet, warm season.  You can pick off the worst affected leaves, but my overwintered garlic has it as well.  As I will be harvesting soon, I am leaving it to get on with it.  I would use a fungicide spray if it was earlier in the season, but its not organic I'm afraid
