I think I may have been guilty of that, I've had a sad showing of my french bean seeds, so I've sown some more!  At least I still have plenty of time to grow them!

we are great bean eaters, even now we are eating them 3 or 4 times a week, ours get chopped - vacuum packed and frozen in 500g bags, the vacuum packing means we can fit more into the freezer, last year I think I bagged and froze probably 30 kg of beans, they will be gone by the time we harvest this years beans.

Well, just seen that the french beans sown directly in the outside bed have started put up some shoots. The ones sown in pots in the mini greenhouse have rotted away and I have some chitted on wet cotton wool in doors have sprouted, so have put these in pots in greenhouse to grow on as fill ins for any gaps in the outside ones. Covering all my bases with different options hopefully will mean I have some French beans to eat this summer......but not 350 plants worth! :D

Given that half a dozen plants (climbers) supplied me with enough beans from about late June to October I can't imagine how many I would be inundated with if I grew 350 of them.

Could someone tell me what you are referring to when you say "French" bean...is this like our Fortex climbers?

They do look very similar.  A french bean is a rounder (in section) bean than a runner bean, smoother skin, and a bit more delicate than a runner ( I am assuming you know what a runner bean looks like  :nowink: )
