My father grew one long ago and trained it carefully on a trellis. I certainly think it will need suport of some kind.

i put 2 stakes and a wire across mine last year .now its reacheched each end   so yes will need something

      I've got a Logannberry ,once it gets growing it will be quite large. Mine has canes 12ft+ ( about 10 ),I trail
    them up wires  to make picking the berries easier  .
      It has produced loads of fruit .

It doesn't need trellis to protect it from wind but it will need tying to supports, as the others have said.
