My allotement is still very sodden and I am reluctant to do too much on it until it drys out.  I haven't had it a year so still a bit new to it all. However I have a couple of raised beds in the back garden that I used for veg up until last year and was wondering if I could use them as seed beds and start a few things in there as I have no greenhouse. Does anyone have any suggestions and what veg cope with starting in a seed bed and then being transplanted. Looking forward to your useful comments as usual. Many thanks.

As a general rule root crops don't like being transplanted but brassicas have no problem with it so you could sow cabbage, cauli, broccoli, kale, etc. You can plant onion sets in small pots and stand them on the beds close together to be transplanted with a root ball when the plot soil is in workable condition.

You can do leeks as well, I'm going to try some this year as well as some sown in pots.
