Leaning apple tree
« on: February 16, 2014, 17:06 »
Some months ago, unknown to me, the support tie for my apple tree(about 3 years old) snapped, and the prevailing wind pushed the tree to quite an angle from vertical.  I didn't want to try and straighten it while it was fruiting but I'm wondering if I can dig around it and straighten it now and put fresh support stakes in.  Any advice anyone?

I have today levered two trees upright that has developed a significant lean, as the ground is incredibly soft still after the recent flood, and did not offer too much resistance to the roots. The trees are well braced so that they can settle into their new vertical positions, being tied with cloth strips to strong uprights
