Hello all  can any one tell me if I can grow mini sweet peppers from seed out of supermarket bought peppers if so do I dry them first or am I waisting my time

I would say no. However, a chap on the plot near me did do this successfully last year. I think everyone, including him, was surprised. So now I think why not try it.

I've successfully grown sweet peppers and chillies from supermarket fruit - it can be a gamble if you don't know the variety as often they can be F1 seeds (hybrids tend to be robust and fruit more consistently than open pollinated) - but if you are not fussed about what you crop, is a fun and cheap way of growing them from seed.

I grew some Ramiro (long red pointy) peppers from seed saved from supermarket fruits.
Just cut them open when ripe and dry the seeds off on tissue paper, then sow

Absolutely yes.  most of the commercial seeds we buy are not bred in this country anyway.  The small orange peppers from Aldi (sweet baby I think they are called) give me nice compact plants with lots of fruit, and any good tasting pepper I come across I will always save the seed.
