You will not need the RCD as your system is only 12v. Without loadings of each bit of kit we cannot tell you if the solar panels will recharge the batteries in time.

thanks for the reply i will try to get all the amp etc and posted a new picture, it will also be 24v. My main project was to use one solar charger and a mini wind turbine, but haven't quite got round to designing one yet. So i was going to use two solar chargers.

I'm very impressed with your plan to run so much kit using "free" energy even if the up-front costs are probably quite high.  :)

My knowledge of electricity finished in 19 sixty something or other with "O" level physics so I can't make any useful comments about your plans, although I am wondering how easy it is to get hold of 24V equipment rather than 12V - would it not be cheaper overall to connect the batteries in parallel and run it as a 12V system?

I think you can get some reasonable 12v LED`s ,bilge pumps and other electricals intended for use on boats which may be right for you.
Might also pay to separate the batteries as they do on boats so that you have a charged reserve when the first runs low on power.

Boating or fishing forums should give some good info on these systems .

8doubles, I was playing with the idea of a bilge pump and was thinking about a dual switch as i've a little boating background and have a little idea of how they run. i think as time goes by once I've worked out what i need to at wind power.  I'm planning on having my allotment for the next 10 years plus so don't mind spending a little.

I will be using all LED lights and maybe stick with a car cigarette lighter as it won't drain the battery as much.

I already have two well charged batterys so that a big chunck of the cost gone.

JayG I might pick your brains a little as time goes on. :)

If you're just looking for members' opinions about widely available products it's fine (it's those who just want to promote their own or their company's products, or use the forums to pursue an unreasonable personal vendetta against a particular company we have to have a serious look at.  ;))
