I keep mine in a dark garage but that hasn't stopped the charlottes, and a few desiree from chitting.  Must be the mild weather.

I've rubbed them off and put them back.  What else can you do?

Nothing you can do about it I'm afraid.  The best thing to try and do in future is to leave the potatoes that are to be stored in the ground for as long as possible, this seems to help delay the chitting and it will be cooler when in storage.  Obviously the longer you leave them in the ground the more chance there is for slug damage so you have to make a judgement.

Mmmm but then the slugs get them... I just check my stored spuds every few weeks and rub them off..
