more orphans!
« on: July 26, 2013, 13:15 »
So after losing little hen last week and 3 of her little chicks, my neighbour has just been round to say there are lots of white feathers in her garden, she thinks her dog has been "playing" with bridget! Im not hopeful of the outcome, she also had 7 babies, fortunately she had a mate who was helping her raise them so they are not totally abandoned!

3 hens lost in so many weeks :-( good job in some ways that they like going broody and we have lots of babies :-)

Aww Frenchy, sorry to hear you've lost another hen.  Doesn't matter how many chickens you've got, its always sad to lose on.   :( :(

You are having a really bad time at the moment, I hope things are going to improve for you soon.

Well done for your neighbour being honest though.

It is September we are meant to be coming but our friends have had to pull out due to work commitments.  We haven't booked anything yet so might reschedule for next year.  If the weather over here takes a turn for the worse we can always come to France for a bit of sun.   ;)

No, we have 2 weeks off at the beginning of September but not sure what we are going to do or where we are going to go as the weather has been so nice here.   ::)  I think I would melt at 55 degrees, we had all the anti rust sealant (Waxoyl) melt out of our car years ago when we went to Central France!

I am sure your birds were thankful for the cooler weather as well.  I can't imagine walking around with a feather duvet wrapped around me in the hot weather.
