Mine also taste much better this year. They were very watery and lacking flavour last year. I also seem to have a lot more of them and they're larger  :D
There is not necessarily anything wrong with doing things that are profitable. It is when "profit" becomes the dominant motive that the cycle of disaster begins.

When compared with last year's crop I've also noticed this about ours.

I only have last year to compare them with and they are def sweeter and tastier! (although last year was pretty rubbish so it would have to be better! ::))

I have picked a few Elsanta which are ok but nothing to rave about. I do like Gariguette though.  Mmmmmmmmmm  :tongue2:  Mine have only just started cropping so hopefully lots more to come

I read this thread (and others) on strawberries and decided to give mine a seaweed feed to see if it would boost the flavour, as I thought they didn't have as nice a taste as previous years.

I fed them about a week ago and already they seem to taste better.  Could it happen that fast?  Do you think it is just wishful thinking?

Dont see why not if its a liquid feed, either that or you have just adjusted to the taste

Quick question. Any negative consequences of leaving strawberries on the plant to keep them fresh? I cannot put my finger on it, but I'm sure something is different in the taste.

I don't know, I've never managed to leave them on the plant ::)

The odd one or two that get overlooked seem to be sweeter and softer and seedier.
