My first crop of strawberries last year were 3 different varieties, but they were all pretty tasteless.  The supermarket ones tasted better. They had loads of compost and a bucket of manure. Anyone have any idea what I did wrong please?

Never had this with homegrown ones they are usually beautiful. I don't give mine manure infact I don give them much apart from water.

i remember my grandfather growing cambridge and brenda,s ,i guess these varieties are still around today.i have around 40 planted this year most are from the place where my son works,i will have to ask him what variety  they are,some have been ripe enough to eat and taste real sweet
