at last, seems like ive been after one forever.

i got the rcom, it only takes 3 eggs, but its meant to be fool proof and does the temp and hum for you.

i cant wait to start, but finding hatching eggs is prooving a nightmare, i dont really want to go to ebay.

what a fantastic Christmas, i hope everyone had a great day too.xxx

Hi Babe,

I've got the rcom and it's brill! I've used it to successfully hatch both chickens and quails.

I wouldn't recommend buying eggs of ebay as I've tired it several times before without success. If you don't have a local poultry supplier, why don't you try posting an add on your local free cycle site-you'll be surprised at how many small poultry keepers are about !

Good luck

Mambo

Is it not simply a case of getting eggs from someone who keeps a cockerel?  Or are you after weird breeds?

im looking to hatch chickens, not just the weird looking ones. i dont know anyone local who keeps chickens, let alone with a cockerel.

its like having a big box of chocolates shoved under your nose and not being able to eat them.

its driving me nuts.

i even got a new foxwatch, yippee, im gonna stop mr foxy somehow.

ive put a post up on swap shop, no replies so far

I hatched a load of chickens with eggs bought from ebay this year and i didnt have a problem .
Most of my problems came from using the incubator and i wouldnt blame anyone who sold them to me as although incubators are thought to be automatic they dont stay at the right levels of temp and humidity consistantly.
I would say there are people on ebay who dont know what their doing , have a few chickens and just want to make a few quid by selling the eggs without knowing about hatching eggs.
Its easy to find the right sellers by looking at their feed back and follow up comments if they have lots of good feedback with good follow up comments your good to buy.
Ive looked at peoples profiles and seen pictures of chickens used from google search!
I bought some Rhode Island Red eggs and 5 out of 6 hatched but one died.
They were all fertile and the one that died would of been ok if i didnt use an incubator but i got 3 hens and a cockerel which have an amazing colour im keeping the cockerel to breed with my hens.

One of the most important things with incubators is setting them up in the right environment. It needs to be in a room thats stays as close to the same temperature as possible.

and i'd definately like to have a go with some of your faveroles when you get some. you'll have to let me know what i can do for you in exchange.

ive already got my brooder lamp and everything set up ready. its so handy havinga spare room.
