Ok, I have 3 silkie chicks, by the colouring and feather style I assumed these were breed from my silkie cockerel and hen, HOWEVER, a friend came over yesterday and questioned if they were pure breed as they have yellow beaks, and yellowish legs?? I do have a non silkie cockerel, I have never seen him with the silkie girls but can pure breed silkies have yellow beaks or are they always black??  The silkies were brought from a dealer so I don't know if they are brother or sister or no relation!

HI frenchliving, I have no idea I'm afraid, but the sullied I had, plus all their chicks had black beaks.  Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be around soon!

I have only had black and white silkies and these have all had black beaks and legs. Sounds like somewhere down the line there may have been some fraternising with a non-silkie (shock! Horror!)
