box buxus cuttings
« on: May 27, 2013, 16:03 »
I've successfully taken box hedge cuttings last year. I took one single stem semi ripe cutting last summer. The roots are good and strong but they don't seem to be putting on much top growth. How slow are these usually?
Also, you know the box topography type standard and balls in pots, are they grown from a single plant or numerous? Thanks

Hi

I've grown a box hedge in the back garden with a tray of the young plants that are sold at B&Q.  They were only 4" high when I bought them.  That was 4 years ago.  Only now have they filled out and formed a lovely tight hedge 12" high and all knitted together.

Based on this, I think you can safely say that they are slow growers but worth the wait.  Box balls are usually one single plant.
