I have to admit I'm addicted to buying seeds, especially tomato seeds, but after scouring the web, I have not been able to find anywhere in the UK that has a good selection of heirlooms. I finally broke down and bought a selection of tomato seeds from this site in the US last night: http://www.seedman.com/tomato.htm

Postage costs were expensive, but there are some very interesting varieties available, and not just tomato seeds.

Now that I've gone and bought them, I'm wondering if anyone on here has come across any good UK sites that have interesting seed selections - not just the standard varieties?

I used to be a member when they were the Henry Doubleday Association and found their Heritage Seed Library brilliant.   I think you got to choose 6 "free" packets of seeds a year, after you have paid your £30 membership, of course.   I also got a really long personalized  handwritten letter about tomato seed saving and how not to cross varieties when I asked them for advice.

The price seems to have gone up a lot, but it is all in a good cause.  Must re-join sometime.

Simpsons Seeds specialise in toms, peppers and chillies but do most other stuff. They pride themselves on choosing varietys simply for taste and have some really interesting seed.

Wow - that's quite a few sites with a good selection between them though there are still quite a few varieties stocked on the website I linked to that I can't seem to find here. Even so, there's more than enough that I will have to keep a close eye on my spending in the near future!

Don't forget that the American varieties will be listed because they grow well over there, they may not be as reliable here, same as we may grow varieties not listed there.

Yes, I did realize that, but thanks for words of caution mum. I do like to experiment a bit
